Ben Martin has joined the team at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital as Director of Development and Special Projects.
In this role, Martin will be working closely with Martha’s Vineyard Hospital President Denise Schepici on raising funds for the Housing for Healthcare project in Edgartown. He will also play an active role in planning the hospital’s special events, including this summer’s signature event: A Vineyard State of Mind.
Martin previously worked at Martha’s Vineyard Bank in Vineyard Haven, where he most recently served as a lending relationship manager. Martin started at the bank in March of 2020 and said he was able to contribute to the bank’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including initiatives such as the Paycheck Protection Program. Before Martha’s Vineyard Bank, he was a commercial portfolio manager at Rockland Trust in Edgartown.
Martin said his work in community banking has given him the opportunity to meet many wonderful people on the Vineyard and he’s excited to build on those relationships in his new role at the hospital.
“I’m looking forward to helping contribute to the hospital’s success by building partnerships with the Island community and helping draw attention to the noble causes the hospital is focused on,” Martin said. “Every day, our hospital is there for all of us in times of need, and I’m excited to be a resource and friendly face for our Island community.”
Martin moved to the Island in 2015 and said he is happiest when he’s walking his dog with his wife, spending time with friends, and surfing at Squibnocket.
